Plastic/fiber composite using recycled polypropylene and fibers from Sorghum halepense L.

چکیده

Leaf and stem fibers of Sorghum halepense L. (SH) were investigated as fillers for recycled polypropylene (RPP) at 10, 20, 30 wt%. The effects SH in RPP on the thermal mechanical properties composites by tensile bending tests, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was found that decreased but their elasticity modulus increased. addition to polymer matrix changed RPP. A slight decrease DSC crystallinity observed with 10% leaf fiber then percentages increased 20% 30% fiber. SEM images showed mixed well without agglomeration, fracture sections less rough than itself.

Composite Fibers from Recycled Plastics Using Melt Centrifugal Spinning

New methods are being developed to enable the production of value-added materials from high-volume, low-cost feedstocks arising from domestic recycling streams. In this work, recycled bottle-grade polyethylene terephthalate, polystyrene, and polypropylene were spun into fibers from the melt using a centrifugal spinning technique. Mono-component fibers and 50/50 blends of each polymer and a 33/3...

Properties of antibacterial polypropylene/nanometal composite fibers.

Melt spinning of polypropylene fibers containing silver and zinc nanoparticles was investigated. The nanometals were generally uniformly dispersed in polypropylene, but aggregation of these materials was observed on fiber surface and in fiber cross-sections. The mechanical properties of the resulted composite fibers with low concentration of nanometal were comparable to those for the control P...

ELEMENT STEWARDSHIP ABSTRACT for Sorghum halepense

Element Stewardship Abstracts (ESAs) are prepared to provide The Nature Conservancy's Stewardship staff and other land managers with current management-related information on those species and communities that are most important to protect, or most important to control. The abstracts organize and summarize data from numerous sources including literature and researchers and managers actively wor...

Population genetics structure of glyphosate-resistant Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense L. Pers) does not support a single origin of the resistance

Single sequence repeats (SSR) developed for Sorghum bicolor were used to characterize the genetic distance of 46 different Sorghum halepense (Johnsongrass) accessions from Argentina some of which have evolved toward glyphosate resistance. Since Johnsongrass is an allotetraploid and only one subgenome is homologous to cultivated sorghum, some SSR loci amplified up to two alleles while others (pr...
